College Football and Social Media!!
In today’s society, social media is everywhere, it’s hard to walk around today without thinking
about if what you are doing is going to end up on a social media site. College football is no different, with nearly all the players and coaches having a smartphone on hand or within arms reach, it is not uncommon to turn on SportsCenter and see a coach and players celebrating in the locker room after a huge win. You also see a lot of coaches giving motivational speeches to pump up his team before they head on to the field. This is a new and popular side of college football we are seeing in today’s game. Growing up and watching college football I always wondered what the coaches would say to their teams before the games, it was always a mystery to us fans. With that being said, I also think it is close to an invasion of privacy, there are some things that are said in a locker room that just need to be left in the locker room. Most of the time the coaches don’t even know they are being filmed during these moments, until after it is posted on a social media site and luckily there have not been any coaches fired for something they said during one of these moments. But For most of us, we never have had that experience of a huge win and the celebration in the locker room afterward, or the coach giving us a deep motivational speech right before a championship game. With social media, it brings us those special moments we never had playing sports, and we as fans can feel more connected to the players and coaches because of these moments captured on phones and posted on different social media platforms.
