Upcoming Season Here at APP State!!
With April coming to an end so is spring football for colleges across the country. This really got
me thinking about the upcoming football season here at Appalachian State, and now I’m really excited for the upcoming season. Looking at the schedule for the upcoming season I can kind of see a similarity to last season’s schedule, App goes ones on the road to play yet another top SEC foe, this time they are traveling to Athens, Georgia to play the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Then this year the mountaineers will be hosting another ACC foe in Wake Forest. Yes, Wake Forest is not the caliber of program that Miami is, but this game with Wake Forest will still draw a huge crowd because Wake Forest is only an hour and a half down the road and in the same state. Both schools recruit players from the same area, so that will add some hatred to the game. A game like this is huge for APP State, it is leading to the start of in-state rivalries with in-state power 5 schools and now that APP State is a Division I football program it will make games like this with in-state power 5 schools more meaningful for the long future of APP State football. This is already showing, in recent weeks APP State has signed to play multiple games with UNC-Chapel Hill and East Carolina University starting in the next couple of years, and really has me excited not just for this upcoming season, but for years to follow.
