They Got it Correct

Early this month the NCAA men’s basketball tournament wrapped up, with the UNC men’s basketball team capturing their sixth national championship, with a 71-65 victory over Gonzaga. Capping off a great college basketball season and tournament. This got me thinking about the past college football season and playoff. This past season ended with a huge upset, with Clemson University beating the University of Alabama 35-31 on a last-second pass into the end zone, finishing one of the greatest college football games of all time. Criticism is a major part of both of these tournaments, experts sit around and argue about which teams should have gotten in and which teams should have been left out. This year was no exception, some people thought Ohio State should not have gotten in or that Washington should have been left out due to their weak strength of schedule, and that Michigan should have been in even though they lost to Ohio State. The same thing happened after the Men’s basketball tournament was set. After watching final seconds’ tick off the clock, I thought to myself, the committee that picks the teams in the tournament has an extremely difficult job to do, and they got it right, they picked the right teams to play in the tournament. Is the College Football Playoff system perfect, and no, it never will be. These so-called experts say they should expand the playoff to add more teams, should they add more teams maybe, and they will cross that bridge when they get to it. But for the time being the system is working, and for this year I would have to say that they picked the right teams to play in the College Football Playoff.
